Guitarist. Vocalist. Producer. Educator.

About

Manuel Gardner-Fernandes is a guitarist, vocalist, producer, and the creative force behind Unprocessed. Born in Mainz and now based in Wiesbaden, Germany, Manu’s journey with music started early. He was only three years old when his parents bought him his first guitar. Inspired by James Hetfield, he decided early on that he wanted to become a rockstar.

He studied classical guitar for eight years before continuing as a self-taught musician, diving deep into songwriting, production, and sound. His influences range from Hetfield and Kirk Hammett to Dimebag Darrell, Bruce Dickinson, Faith No More, Massive Attack, and Deftones, a mix that shaped his instinct for combining heavy technicality with atmosphere and groove.

At sixteen, Manu founded Unprocessed in his bedroom. From the start, he had a vision for what it could become. The band spent its first years as a local act before breaking through internationally, building a sound that fuses metal, pop, jazz, hip hop, and electronic elements into something entirely its own. Known for performing intricate guitar passages while singing lead vocals, Manu has earned a reputation as one of the most technically gifted and versatile musicians in modern progressive music.

Beyond Unprocessed, Manu works as a mixing and mastering engineer. His approach is intuitive, led by feel and instinct rather than strict rules - and his mixes are known for their bass-driven clarity and warmth. Shaping songs into their final form with balance, depth, and impact.

Outside of music, Manu finds creativity and peace in his love for video games and anime, worlds that continue to inspire the imagination behind his sound and storytelling.
